The bathroom is one of those rooms in our home designed for the performance of different activities. It is therefore a multifunctional room and as such needs a dual type of lighting. In fact, it is not sufficient to have just one diffuse, central light, but it is essential to also place direct lights. Depending on the furnishings and design of the room, these can be placed in the washbasin and mirror area and possibly in the bathtub or shower area. For diffuse lighting in a bathroom, you can choose between elegant ceiling lights and traditional pendant lights. For direct lighting, on the other hand, it is advisable to opt for wall lights in a modern style.
Modern LED wall lights with warm or neutral light.
LED wall lights are available in different colour temperatures, each of which has a different effect on the bathroom ambience:
- Warm Light (2700K – 3000K): This colour temperature emits a soft and welcoming light, similar to that of traditional incandescent bulbs. It is ideal for creating a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a bathroom intended primarily for relaxation. However, it may not be the best choice for functional lighting near the mirror.
- Neutral Light (3500K – 4000K): Neutral light offers a good balance between warmth and brightness. This colour temperature is versatile, suitable for both general lighting and specific activities such as make-up. Neutral light reproduces colours more naturally than warm light, making the bathroom a pleasant and functional environment.
- Cold Light (5000K – 6500K): Cold light is bright and clear, similar to daylight. It is the ideal choice for those who need precise and detailed lighting, such as for make-up or shaving. However, it can be too intense and create a cold, unwelcoming atmosphere when used as the only light source.
The importance of the diffuser in bathroom wall lights
The ideal location for wall lights is, as we have seen, above the mirror and sink. It is in this area that activities requiring an intense and direct beam of light are concentrated: putting on make-up, shaving, polishing and brushing teeth, to name but a few examples.
Modern wall lights, designed to be placed in this position, usually feature a diffuser, made of different materials, which has the task of protecting the bulb. Given the position in which the wall light is placed, it is best to avoid models with an open bulb, as the possibility of unpleasant short circuits would be greater. The Ruler wall light, made of metal, features a methacrylate diffuser model. The Dao Led wall light for Lucilla Giovane also features a diffuser that protects against moisture, but in this case is made of PMMA, i.e. polymethyl methacrylate, and is supported by a white painted metal frame.
